{"id":1292,"date":"2025-07-22T13:40:35","date_gmt":"2025-07-22T13:40:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.logicalware.net\/?p=1292"},"modified":"2025-07-22T19:14:55","modified_gmt":"2025-07-22T19:14:55","slug":"trump-pulls-us-out-of-unesco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.logicalware.net\/index.php\/2025\/07\/22\/trump-pulls-us-out-of-unesco\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump pulls US out of UNESCO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Trump is set <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/ap\/ap-international\/ap-us-says-its-leaving-un-cultural-agency-unesco-again-only-2-years-after-rejoining\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">to once again withdraw from<\/a> The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the State Department announced Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>In announcing the U.S. is leaving the cultural organization, State spokesperson Tammy Bruce said that \u201clike many UN organizations, UNESCO strayed from its founding mission.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoing forward, U.S. participation in international organizations must make America safer, stronger, and more prosperous,\u201d Bruce added in a post <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/statedeptspox\/status\/1947641755714633818\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on the social platform X<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The president in February <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/international\/5126581-trump-withdraws-from-un\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">signed an executive order directing<\/a> the U.S. to review its participation in UNESCO. In that order, he <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/international\/5126581-trump-withdraws-from-un\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/international\/5126581-trump-withdraws-from-un\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">also withdrew<\/a> the U.S. from the United Nations Human Rights Council and from participating in UNRWA, the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always felt that the U.N. has tremendous potential. It\u2019s not living up to that potential right now. It really hasn\u2019t for a long time,\u201d Trump said at the time.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S., as well as Israel, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/international\/355087-state-department-announces-it-will-withdraw-from-unesco\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/international\/355087-state-department-announces-it-will-withdraw-from-unesco\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">withdrew from UNESCO<\/a> in 2019 under the first Trump administration, with Israel criticizing\u00a0the agency as \u201cerasing\u201d Jewish history\u00a0within Israel\u2019s borders. In 2023, the U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/4110732-white-house-marks-rejoining-unesco-says-trump-era-absence-harmed-us-interests\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/4110732-white-house-marks-rejoining-unesco-says-trump-era-absence-harmed-us-interests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rejoined the organization<\/a> under former President Biden.<\/p>\n<p>The White House on Tuesday argued UNESCO, the body that uses culture and history as a bridge-building mechanism between nations, \u201csupports woke\u201d causes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNEW: President Trump has decided to withdraw from UNESCO \u2014 which supports woke, divisive cultural and social causes.
